Class Test Reflection 1: Cells & Transport in Humans

Your reflections should describe your strengths and weaknesses in this test (Competency areas: Knowledge, Understanding & Application). Use specific examples from the questions to highlight these areas. Project into the future as to how you plan to improve this topic and each of these competency areas.

Please follow this format:
i) Strengths: . . .
ii) Weaknesses: . . .
iii) Areas to improve: . . .
Provide some questions as examples.

Note: Please use scholarly language with no spelling or grammatical errors. Avoid slang or casual conversational writing.

  1. For the Biology test, I feel that I should have revised the notes more so that I could have remembered the facts easier. I should also have focused more on the areas where I am confused like how each organelles in each cell looks like. I should also focus more on what each organelle’s function is so I can write it down specifically. I should also remember what are the correct key words and concepts so that I can write them down in future tests. I feel that I should be more careful as I have made a lot of mistakes in this Biology test.

  2. I felt that I am better in drawing, I think it is because I am good in drawing. I also feel that I did better for organelles than the others for this test because I spent more time revising the organelles than on the others. I did not do well for tissues this time, I think it is because I did not spend much time on this topic. I should learn to balance time, so that I can spend same amount of time revising each topic. After this test, I feel that I did not do well enough. I should prepare for the test early so that I have enough time to be able to master each topic. Bio notes are very important for revision. I should be more careful in future, to avoid making the mistakes I made and mistakes during the test.

  3. My strengths are that I study hard. I memorized every single topic, but I did not revise on the drawings. For the first structured question, I struggled in finding the answer because I did not refer to the notes of where the organelles are located at, or how they look like. That was why I lost a mark in that question. My major weakness is I do not study smart. I just memorized every single topic without deepening my understanding or questioning myself of some of the facts. I believe I can improve my way of studying. Instead of studying blindly, I should have understood the topics well by asking more questions in class.

  4. My I think strengths are in the open ended part as I managed to get almost all the questions correct there although my answers happened to be a bit long winded as I wrote a lot compared to the answers. I could improve on my multiple choice questions as I got 2 wrong out of 3, it may be because the questions I got wrong was because it was challenging or I may have not read up enough on that topic. Also I may need to learn the spelling of the terms correctly as I spelled mitochondria as mitochandria and lost 2 marks if I am not wrong. I feel this mistake was very costly and could have done better if I payed for attention to learning the spelling of the terms. Also I need to improve on the drawings as I drew the long an narrow protrusion too big.

  5. I think that my strengths are i can understand the topics easily and can remember them.i also can read through my notes and quickly recall what was taught.I feel that my weaknesses are that i am careless. At times I don't read the question ,and just rush into it,and sometimes getting it wrong.I think i need to improve myself by not being so careless, and i should learn on how to structure my questions better.

  6. My strengths is that I pay attention in class and take down important notes. From taking down extra notes, I can more information and it also make me understand better. My weakness is that I am not able to spell in familiar words and I will write long answers so I will not have time to complete the paper. I also find it difficult to self-study since I will not know how to study before the test so I just remembered stuff which I was quite weak in and the mistakes I made for the past pop-quiz. And the reason for doing average for my science, I was anxious of not completing the paper so I only got part of the marks. So in the future, before the exam, I think I should read through all the notes and summarize all the topics like what are cancer cells. And in the sentence, I must make sure that I have all the keywords.

  7. I think that my strengths are that I can understand the topics and get them in my fingertips. As my notes are organised properly, I can easily skim through them and revise more easily. My weaknesses are that I do not read the questions properly and I accidentally write wrongly. I suck at drawing as well.

  8. I think that my strengths are that I can visualize things easily which helps me with my drawings. Also, because my notes are not scattered all over the place eg under table, home, locker, it is easier to revise. However, I feel my weaknesses are that I tend to rush through work and leave careless mistakes behind.

  9. I think my strengths are that I enjoy this subject a lot and I am willing to go far to ensure that I improve on this subject. Another strength that I have is that I take down notes frequently in class and I file notes into the Science file.
My weaknesses is that I have bad time management leaving me with little time to revise my work. I should also remember the correct keywords to use during the test so as to ensure that I get the question correct.
I think my areas of improvements are that I should manage my time more wisely and provide sufficient time for me to revise my work properly. I should also seek the teacher's help if I am unsure about something as friends might give me the wrong answer.

  10. I think that my strengths are that I can memorize the different keywords and match them to the different topics and questions, remember key points and crucial information. I can also learn from past mistakes for example in the pop quiz. I can also pay attention during lessons and study hard when I need to. My weakness is that I make careless mistakes like spelling errors and leaving out keywords.

  11. my strengths was the cancer cells and cells and memorizing the keyword ,especially after the quiz you gave us, it really helped me remember the keywords i need.
my weaknesses, however, are that i cannot check thoroughly with 1 hour, and i made small errors in the writing and for the cancer question like when the question asked what treatment he could undergo i accidentally forgot the name and thus lost a mark, a mark i could have easily gained and got 11.
my other mistake was that i was not studying on the right thing as i spent most of the time studying cancer cells and the kingdoms,so i only got the test half-right.
the areas i can improve is in revising a much more stretched area of science and not lumping it all together.

  12. I feel that i have not done up to standard in this test, as I made careless mistakes (i.e larger surface area TO VOLUME RATIO, The heart pumps blood AWAY FROM ITSELF). These kind of mistakes caused me to lose about 3~4 marks. I did a lot of revision, and from this test i understand how important certain keywords are. The main reason I forgot was because I was rushing through. I need to check before I hand in my work

I think that my strengths are in the topic of blood vessels. However, I did not revise much for the test so, I did not really know what the key words are. Sometimes, I even mix up the key words of different topics. For most of the topics, I just briefly read the notes given by the teacher and did not concentrate much when I was preparing for this test. I think that I should start to preparing for the future tests and exams beforehand and I must concentrate and read through the notes carefully. Also, I think that I need to check through my work for any mistakes if I have time during any test or exam.

  14. For the Biology Test, I feel that it is a bit challenging to me as I did not do as well as I had expected. I felt that I am good at making explanation but not for drawing as I don’t usually draw. For explaining, I am good at it because I am able to make out the difference between an item and the other item. Also, I felt that I made a lot of unnecessarily mistake due to my carelessness. Once the scores deducted, my total score was than no good. I also made one big mistake and that is the drawing of the root hair cell. I drew it wrongly as I drew four protrusion instead of one which makes the whole drawing become like some random stuff. I could improve on my spelling so that I will be able to spell out the organelle that are needed for the work.

  15. I felt that I should have spend more time to revise for this test so that I can remember the key concepts and facts as now what I have written is without the specific keywords for my answer. I did not manage to remember how to draw the organelles, understand clearly the questions on blood vessels and stem cells as I did not study much on that topic and focus on other topics like the treatment for cancer and cells' functions instead as I felt that they were more important. Now I feel that this way of studying is not good as I should understand each and every topic as clearly as one another to score well and excel.

  16. I did not do as well as i expected for this test, however, i am now stronger in MCQ questions, as i got them all correct. I am also better at questions that require "inferring"such as question (A)1 and (A)4. but i am week in questions that requires memorizing of facts, such as questions (B)1. I also need to pay more attention in checking my work, as for my drawing, i drew a very small vacuole instead of a large one. I should start Revising earlier and read uo more on the topic of "Cancer cells". I think i would definitely do better for the next test.

  17. My strengths are that I was able to get the main points from the question, and able to understand the question fully. Also, I was able to do the cell drawing of the root hair cell as I went through the drawings that we did in class before the test.

My weaknesses are that I sometimes could not link two things in the question. For example, in one of the questions we were suppose to link root hair cell and red blood cell. I was able to state the different functions, but since I could not link their similarities, I could not get the mark. Also, I would need to work on my spelling, as I spelt “radiotherapy” as “radiotheraphy”.

I would need to improve on my weaknesses, and build up on my strengths.

  18. I think i did pretty well in my biology test. My strengths are that i was able to get the key concept on what the question are asking and understand the question fully. I am also good at drawing cells as we did some practice in class before.

My weaknesses are that i could not remember the key concepts and my mind is blank. I cannot find the link to the drawing cells and the question related below.

I think i need to study and revise more, making sure i know all the concepts. Not only that, i also need to practice more on my structured-essay and practice more in drawings.

  19. I think i did pretty well in my bio test this round. My strengths were actually consistently studying, not last minute preparation. I also found out that you are not supposed to memorize the notes, but you have to understand it.
I do have my flaws though. I have to be able to stay focused on the topic and have to learn how to draw in the right size.
To do that, I really have to study in advance and read the right notes and stay on track so that i will not make any funny mistakes.
